Pack warm clothes and extra blankets for a springtime picnic because there’s still a chance that the weather could turn chilly, especially in the late afternoon.
There are beautiful lakeside parks in the Catawba Valley, but if you’re not familiar with the local regulations, check with the municipality before taking a picnic basket into a public park. For simple picnics, most parks don’t require reservations to be made; however, if you’re planning a large gathering, it might be necessary to book. Also, some restrictions may apply.
Be sure to clean up after yourself. If you can’t find any on-site trash receptacles, put all litter in your own trash bags and dispose of them at home.
PICNIC TIP 101 – HOW TO KEEP THOSE PESKY ANTS AT BAY
You know how irritating these critters can be. Talcum powder to the rescue! When you arrive at your picnic spot, sprinkle some around the entire perimeter. It interferes with ants’ senses and they won’t cross that white line.
