Whether you’re interested in drinking games or not, the following article “Beer Pong’s Big Splash”, from the Times website, is an interesting insight into today’s college subculture. The article is about the “Beer Pong” craze, which is an immensely popular pastime for many American college students. The game works like this: a triangle of ten beer cups, about a third way full of beer, is set at each end of a table. The two teams, of two individuals, stand at opposite ends of the table, and players take turns throwing, lobbing, bouncing, etc., a ping pong ball, attempting to land the ball in one of the cups on the opposite end of the table. If a ball lands in a cup, a member of the team on that side of the table must remove, and drink that cup of beer. The first team to lose all their cups loses the match. This game is not restricted to bars and college parties; you can of course pick up a six-pack at your local beer store and play a game with friends in the comfort of your own home. On the other hand, you might just want to enjoy your beers sitting on the coach watching another type of game on the TV instead!
